A lot has happened at Compact since we first started building back in March 2026.
Our thesis is still the same: We want to help small law attorneys cut down on their time spent on non-billable administrative tasks, and enable smaller teams and solo practitioners in law to succeed in this new technological landscape dominated by AI.
So we’re kicking off June with a couple of updates!
1. We rebranded. 🦋
It’s nice to see you again. You may have once known us as “Forma,” but we’ve now rebranded ourselves as “Compact.” But we’re still the same team of Cornell undergraduates (Andrew & Satria) + a recent Cornell graduate (Abigail)!
2. We pivoted! 🎯
Originally, we completely finished building an AI-native practice management platform (or CRM) for small law firms, hoping to offer a stronger, more intuitive alternative to existing options such as Clio and 8am MyCase.

Our beta testers liked our AI tools and features. But their feedback led us to realize 2 main problems:
Attorneys don’t want to switch platforms. Having to migrate firm files and documents, and also learn how to use a new management platform, is a lot of work. They would rather stick to familiar platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Clio, MyCase).
Attorneys don’t like making changes to their workflow. Every attorney we talked to had their own preferred method of performing daily tasks. They don’t want to deviate from that.
This brought us back to the drawing board. How do we create a solution that could remove these pain points while keeping the features that worked?
Introducing Compact 2.0 ✨
We’ve created a team of legal AI agents that carry out administrative or research tasks for you — the small law attorney. These assistants work along with you as you’re managing cases, communicating with clients, and dealing with daily business matters.
How It Works:
Easy Sign-Up: It takes 5 minutes or less to set up your new account and integrate the platforms that you already use.
You can tell AI agents to perform any administrative or research task for you, with one single prompt!
Direct AI Agents with One Prompt: Once you’ve established the task, our AI agents split up the prompt among themselves, based on what they’ve been engineered to do.
Endless Possibilities: There are a variety of tasks our agents can do for you. They can look through your email and schedule meetings and upcoming deadlines for you, perform research, etc.

3. We’re Looking for Beta Testers! 🚀
